Hiking Trails The numerous hiking trails around Sabie cater for everyone - whether you are a bird watcher, a fauna and flora enthusiast, or merely want to experience the delight of relaxing within sight of sparkling waterfalls or meandering streams. The hiking trails around Sabie range from easy walks of a few hours to gruelling hikes over several days. 4X4 TRIPS -- the two main forestry companies, Komatiland and Global Forest Products have, in their quest to promote eco-tourism, granted rights to a number of independent safari operators to conduct exclusive 4x4 self-drive eco-safaris through their plantations and forests in the Sabie area

Other Activities ANNUAL EVENTS THAT TAKE PLACE IN AND ARROUND SABIE -- DonÂ’t miss out on the popular annual events that take place at Sabie throughout the year. FOREST FAIR -- The bi-annual Mpumalanga Forest Fair is the show-case of the SA Forestry Industry. Spectacular demonstrations and exhibitions, great competitions and fun for the whole family. Next Forest Fair will, hopefully, be in 2005 - Touch Wood!. SASOL RALLY Death-defying day and night stages on the narrow, winding forestry roads. Excellent and free spectator value provided by the heroic masters of cross-country motor racing. MOUNTAIN BIKE RACES A number of National & Provincial Mountain Bike championships and other races are hosted by the Mpumalanga Mountain Bike Association (MaMBA) throughout the year. LONGTOM MARATHON The toughest ultra marathon in South Africa is held in March/ April on the Long Tom Pass (Sabie to Lydenburg). More than 1 000 runners participate in this gruelling 56km event. GOLD PANNING CHAMPS The National championships is held in September in Pilgrim's Rest - Great fun FOR ALL ! SPRING FLOWER SHOW Held in the Town Hall in early September

Forest Industry Museum -- Sabie's pride and joy is the SAFCOL Forest Industry Museum. This museum is the only one of its kind on the African Continent and is well worth a visit. Not only is it educational, but its displays fascinates both old and young alike.
