Activities:

Game Viewing The town’s location on the route to the Kruger Park and other popular destinations in the Lowveld, as well as the fact that it is malariafree due to its high altitude, may lead to a ‘second gold rush’ by city dwellers.

Bird Watching Another interesting sight includes the blue swallow natural heritage site, which has been set aside for the protection for the endangered Blue Swallow. Kaapsehoop is designated “Imported Bird Area” and well trained birdguides are available.

Hiking Trails Kaapsehoop is on the edge of the Mpumalanga escarpment and is set among massive unusual rock formations. There are various hiking trail options ranging from a 20 minute hike to a viewpoint at the edge of the world to a three hour hike to the newly discovered Adams’s Calandar. Battery Waterfall is a 45 minute fairytale hike and a must do!

Other Activities Horse trails ranging from one hour to a whole day can be booked at Berlin, 6km from the village

A bit about your hosts:
Zagrys and Chriselda lives in Pretoria. Because of their love for the nature they fell in love with the misty mountains, wild horses and cosy ambience of this historic digger’s town. Although it is almost impossible to buy a plot in Kaapsehoop, they bought this plot and built the house in 1998. It was their own place of retreat, until they decided to share this priviledge with other nature lovers. They named it Clarizma, which is the first letters of the names of their three children.
