Crocodile Nest B&B and self-catering units are a beautiful double storey farmhouse, two rondavel-style cottages, four timber sleeper cabins, a communal living/self-catering cabin and a compact family cabin on a working export citrus farm only 12 km from Nelspruit and close to the N4 on the road to Johannesburg and Pretoria.

What guests will find here is picturesque tropical shaded gardens and expansive lawns around a sparkling pool with braai lapa…..and Mark and Beryl’s warm ex Zimbabwean farmer hospitality. The rustically furnished rondavels offer en suite showers, wc and fans and is ideal for families. Guests have a self-catering option or meals are served in an upstairs balcony dining area with a view across the sparkling pool and Crocodile River Valley.

This is the ideal destination for a short or prolonged stay and close to the Kruger National Park and other popular tourist destinations in the Lowveld. NELSPRUIT: The dynamic provincial capital of Mpumalanga is also the largest town in the Lowveld. As such, it is well serviced with shops, restaurants and other facilities. It is attractively positioned in the valley of the Crocodile River and has a park like setting with many flowering trees. Oranges, sub-tropical fruit and nuts are grown extensively in the area. Crocodile Nest B&B and self-catering has extremely good access to the many attractions such as the Kruger National Park and Barberton, where in the gold rush days of the last century, it is reported that a reef so rich in gold was discovered, that it sparkled in the sun.

Sudwala caves, Nelspruit Botanical Gardens featuring a complete collection of baobab species, the world-famous cycad collection comprising all 36 southern African cycad species, and an African Rain Forest; Riverside shopping Mall and Casino Complex, Rottchers’ Orange Winery, Halls Farm Stall (11km), Crocodile and Reptile Park. Day trips to Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, MacMac Falls, God’s Window and the quaint little towns of Pilgrim’s Rest, Graskop and Sabie. Day visits to the Kruger Park with entrance at Malelane Gate can also be planned. Kaapsehoop Historical Village offers many tourist attractions (horse riding, bird watching (Blue Swallow) and hiking trail.

The Crocodile Valley is picturesque and very productive in a diverse selection of crops, citrus estates, macadamia and other nuts, sugar cane, granadilla, guavas, paw-pas an d many others. Visit fruit processing factories. The Agricultural Research Trust Station is in the centre of Nelspruit and the Agricultural College just out of town

Farm History: The title deed dates back to 1910. The farm is set in granite hills on the southern side of the Crocodile River in the hilly, well-treed Crocodile Valley. It became a citrus farm in 1989 and now exports 70 000 cartons of oranges annually to Europe, Canada and Far East

A bit about your hosts:
Mark & Beryl 50's not out! They are ex-Zimbabwean and started a new life in 2002 in South Africa. They have two daughters. Both have a rural background with wildlife and outdoors being important. They love to interact with new people. Cabin 5 (Inside and outside)
